Warfarin is an oral anticoagulant used mainly in prevention of atrial fibrillation (AF) to treat a confirmed episode of pulmonary embolism (PE) and deep vein thrombosis (DVT). Warfarin is an antagonist of vitamin K which is needed for the synthesis of clotting factor.
